About the School

The School for Mime Theatre evolved from the vision of a fertile laboratory for mimes to work on the development of their performance skills along with writing and construction methods that would advance the art form as envisioned some 30 years ago by Gregg Goldston, founder of The Goldston School for Mimes. The School for Mime Theatre of today, continues this mission, evolving as a center where artists can work in a non-competitive environment and faculty, with students, live and work together as a company, creating and furthering the development of the art form. The School for Mime Theatre has become one of the most vital centers for Mime in the Americas. Classes are taught in the techniques of Marcel Marceau, Etienne Decroux and the unique skills evolved throughout years of teaching, creating and performing by the staff. Inspired by a desire to elevate the art of Mime to encompass the full accoutrements of the theatrical stage, and to especially foster the development and strengthening of the skills necessary to create solo and ensemble Mime Theatre, the School for Mime Theatre’s faculty invite you to attend the 29th year of Mime Theatre on the campus of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, U.S.A. Nicholas Johnson, they have been internationally recognized innovators of Mime in their own right. Faculty for The Seminar of 2009 consists of C. Nicholas Johnson and Rick Wamer (Co-artistic Directors), Lorie Heald and Stephen Chipps. Register here...
